Ants are a year-round nuisance in Caroline Springs, but calls rise sharply in spring and after heavy summer rain. The usual indoor species are black house ants, which march along skirting boards and bench edges, and coastal brown ants, which leave small piles of sand along paths, patios and the edges of concrete slabs. Both can build huge colonies under paving and inside wall cavities. Tiny ants in the bathroom or around the kettle are often a sign of a nest inside a wall.
Spraying the trail you can see only kills the workers, and the colony simply sends more. The crew we book looks for where the ants are nesting and how they are getting inside. They treat the nest area, entry points and trails, often using a mix of non-repellent sprays outside and baits inside. Worker ants carry the bait back to the nest, where it spreads through the colony over several days.

In the first few days after a treatment you may see more ants, not fewer. That is normal, as they are feeding on the bait and carrying it home. Try not to wipe up trails near baits during this time. After that, keep food sealed, rinse sticky bottles and jars, and trim plants that touch the walls or roof, as ants use them as bridges.
